Your classes

Saved in this browser

Start your first class

Name a class, add assignments, and drop in scores. Everything stays saved in this browser — survives reloads, no login, no server, ever.

Set up a class in under a minute

  1. Step 1

    Create a class

Name a class and pick its grading scale — standard, plus/minus, or your own cutoffs.

  2. Step 2

    Add assignments + scores

Add each quiz, test, or project, then drop in scores. Averages and letter grades update live.

  3. Step 3

    It stays saved — privately

Reload, reboot, come back tomorrow: your classes are right where you left them, in your browser only.

Why a “local” gradebook beats the rest

  • It remembers. Free EZ graders reset every reload — Gradejar keeps your classes between sessions.
  • It’s private. Data never leaves your device. No server has it, so no one can leak it.
  • It’s portable. Export a JSON backup or a CSV anytime; import to move between devices.
  • It’s free, with no login. No account, no email, no paywall on saving — ever.

Questions teachers ask

Does this gradebook really save my classes without an account?

Yes. Gradejar saves your classes, assignments, scores, and grading scales directly in your own browser using local storage — no sign-up, no login, and no server. Come back later on the same browser and everything is still there. Every other free EZ grader forgets your work the moment you reload; this is the difference.

Where is my data stored, and is it private?

It lives only in this browser on this device. Nothing is ever uploaded to a server, so no one else can see it. The trade-off is that it is tied to this browser — use “Export backup” to save a copy you can keep or move to another device.

Can I set my own grading scale?

Yes. Each class has its own grading scale and it is saved with the class. Use the standard A–F scale, a plus/minus scale, or pick “Custom” and set the exact percentage cutoff for every letter — Gradejar remembers it for that class.

How is the class average calculated?

Each assignment shows the average of its scores. The class average is the mean of those assignment averages, so every assignment counts equally and an empty assignment never drags the number down. The class grade letter uses that class’s own saved scale.

Can I export my gradebook or move it to another computer?

Yes. “Export backup” downloads a JSON file of everything, and “Export CSV” gives you a spreadsheet of every class, assignment, average, and letter. To move to another device, export here and use “Import” there — your classes are appended, never overwritten.

What happens if I clear my browser data?

Clearing your browser’s site data or using private/incognito mode will remove the saved gradebook, because it lives in the browser by design. If you plan to clear data or switch browsers, export a backup first — importing it restores everything.
